Mother's Day  is round the corner and this is a perfect flower bouquet for the event. Decorate with this flower basket and I'm sure she will surely love this simple and cute idea of gift. Let's start and show your  love to her! First I started with a bamboo basket and filled the inner base with foam rubber. Then painted with green acrylic paint. This foam rubber will hold the flower sticks in position. From a painted burlap sheet I cut some flower petals. Number of petals depend on how many you are going to use in one flower and number of flowers you are going to make. It varies due to size of the basket you use. I tied the petals together with thread so that it looks like a flower. I use galvanised wire to make the stick. This is how they look after finishing. Now your flowers   are ready to be fixed in the basket. I use hot gun glue while fixing the flower sticks. It holds them tightl...

The other day I was in a relaxing mood by not trying to make new jewellery all the day. I was thinking of taking a day break from my usual schedule. Aadi, my only son, suggested me to pull down our family album to refresh his memory down the lane. So I was! After a while we both were dumped under a pile of albums. We started with our wedding album and Aadi was so excited to seeing his parents in such funny costumes. It went for an hour. Then gradually we moved to his birthdays, starting from his first birth anniversary towards his sixth. He was trying to find his new "avatar" in every frame he saw. His eyes were wide open to grasp his grown-up-stories step by step. We enjoyed the moment thoroughly.

Jewellery are precious ; delicate and if it is handmade then it becomes more precious as these are being made by someone you personally know. You always have a one-to-one relation with the maker. May be because you had ordered something special for you or may be you have a custom colour on it which your maker had precisely worked on upon your request. So every handmade pieces have its own story to tell and they become your storyteller. You have to keep them safe and clean so as to keep your delicate items with you forever.  As a jewellery maker and a shop owner I encountered different issues related to the safeguarding the handmade items after their purchase from my shop . So I decided to mention some tips and tricks to keep handmade jewellery safe and to keep them clean.

This week allow me to be little more close to our Mother Earth. Yes! I am taking you to our little-grassy-lawn to find out the colourful insects around us. You heard right, I meant INSECTS, really! May be because of my craziness to crafts-making or may be to be little bit odd, I thought, let me bring together natural insects and my crafts. So I started picking up some real moments to get involved in my new project "The Insects Series" in a shape of handmade Earrings. I found the colourful butterfly, sweet honeybee or even the scary bedbug/ladybird will be interesting subjects which ladies won't mind to wear on their ears. But it must look like the original one as well as light weight.  To be very honest, this idea came to my mind when I was making the Multi-purpose Table Pot (you can read the article here ). Few months back my parents moved into a new apartment and my mother was looking for an exclusive item for her main door to welcome her guests. She tried different things to suit her taste but alas! nothing could satisfy her. One day we all were having tea together discussing what to land at her door-step. Suddenly my father suggests me to make something that could bring attention to all of our new visitors. This time I choose a terracotta vase to paint color motif on it. Aadi, my son was so excited in doing and helping me through the process of making it for his grandma. He helped me in sandpapering making the surface smooth and clean. You won't believe the base coat of black color was done by him only. Isn't it exciting?

Today I am presenting a new form of home décor / furnishing. It's in form of hand-painted linen bed cover. It's special because it's not printed. It's special because it has my personal touch, my passion. It's special because it's unique. It's special because it has a unique story to share. As I promised in my last blog to write about a wall hanging, here is the handmade item I made. Photo courtesy:    my Decor8 Craft This beautiful home décor item is made of Jute with a terracotta Ganesha on top of it. As a base I used cardboard and wrapped jute cloth on it. A hand-paint terracotta Ganesha glued on it. And finally fixed six metal leaf petals to decorate the item and to give it a finishing touch. As border I used glittering lace to differentiate between single colour mid portion and the edge of the piece.
